Lot 392: A Pair of Genuine Devon Art Pottery Vases, Made for Herberts

A pair of glazed earthenware vessels, featuring an ovoid body, a tapered neck, and a flared rim. Each vase is predominantly finished in a vibrant royal blue glaze, accented by a broad glossy black glazed neck and rim. A distinctive geometric band, composed of multi-colored segments including green, yellow, orange, red, purple, and light blue, encircles the upper body, in a style similar to the ‘Jazz Pattern’ found in Torquay pottery. The interior and unglazed bases reveal a reddish-brown terracotta or earthenware body. Visible impressed markings on the base of both items read ‘Genuine Devon Art Pottery’ in an arc, above ‘Made For HERBERTS’.
