Lot 232: A Collection of Vintage Toys, Games, and Advertising Ephemera including Pelham Puppet and Spear's Games 52g apart of photoframe
This lot comprises an assortment of vintage British toys, card games, and advertising containers. The collection includes a Pelham Puppet Standard range marionette featuring a moulded head with hand-painted features and red synthetic hair, dressed in a fabric skirt and checked blouse, complete with wooden control bars and original yellow box marked for Pelham Puppets, Marlborough, Wilts. Games include a Spear’s Games Snap set titled The Good Old Game featuring a banjo player illustration, manufactured at the Spear Works, Bavaria. Also present is a Happy Families card game depicting a character in Highland dress, an Alliance Series Tidley Winks set with gnome illustrations, and a boxed set of natural and black finish wooden draughts. Literature includes an eleventh edition copy of The Beginner’s Book of Chess published by K and C. Advertising ephemera consists of an embossed Ovaltine Rusks metal tin, a Farrah’s Original Harrogate Toffee blue and white lithographed tin, and a large Carr’s Holiday Assorted Biscuits cardboard box featuring a photographic print of a young girl in a blue dress. The group is completed by two Eucryl tins for tooth and denture powder, and a Lambert and Butler Weaver Brand tobacco tin featuring a sphinx logo and red and gold decorative borders. Materials include tin-plate, wood, cardboard, paper, and synthetic hair.
