Lot 542: A Collection of British Decorative Relief Plaques and Bird Figurines
A collection of four late 20th-century British decorative items comprising relief plaques and hand-painted figurines. The collection includes a large rectangular high-relief wall plaque set in a gilt-wood frame, depicting a detailed medieval procession with figures on horseback, musicians with clarions, and a castle in the background. This piece is cast in a composite material with metallic and matte painted finishes; an incised mark in the lower right corner concludes with the word DESIGNS, attributed to Marcus Designs.
The collection also features an oval three-dimensional relief plaque depicting a thatched cottage with a stone boundary wall and flowering garden, mounted on a dark-stained wooden base. An embossed circular logo is visible on the textured ground, in the style of Lilliput Lane or Davenport.
Completing the group are two hand-painted resin figurines on circular dark wood bases. One depicts a wren perched on a log alongside bluebells and a ladybird, while the other shows a robin on a tilted terracotta-style pot containing a nest with eggs, entwined with ivy leaves. These bird studies are in the style of makers such as Country Artists or Border Fine Arts.
