Lot 181: Waltham Traveler Gold Filled Half-Hunter Pocket Watch

A vintage half-hunter pocket watch with a manual-wind movement by the Waltham Watch Co., USA. The movement is signed American Waltham, U.S.A. TRAVELER and features a regulator with an F/S scale. The movement serial number 18522878 dates the manufacture to circa 1912. The gold-filled case was produced by the Dennison Watch Case Co., signed STAR and DENNISON WATCH CASE CO with serial number 457106. The inner dust cover is stamped ENGLISH MAKE THIS CASE GUARANTEED TO WEAR 10 YEARS. The outer case features a central aperture for time reading without opening, surrounded by an enamel-filled Roman numeral chapter ring. The white enamel dial includes Roman numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at the 6 o’clock position, and is signed Waltham U.S.A. It features blued steel spade and whip hands. This assembly demonstrates the historical practice of casing imported American movements in English-made cases.
