Lot 371: Six Portmeirion British Heritage Collection Parian Ware Relief-Moulded Jugs

A collection of six Portmeirion Parian ware jugs from the British Heritage Collection. These pieces are constructed from fine-textured, unglazed white biscuit porcelain, designed to imitate the appearance of marble. Each jug features intricate relief-moulded decoration derived from nineteenth-century heritage moulds. The patterns within this graduated set include a large jug with a vine and grape motif with scrolling foliage, a medium jug depicting a pastoral scene of a family seated outside a tent, often referred to as the Gypsy pattern, and smaller jugs featuring classical putti or cherubs amongst vineyards and floral motifs such as lilies and tulips. The jugs exhibit varied handle forms, including scrolling foliate and textured twig-like designs. Each item bears an impressed circular mark to the base reading PORTMEIRION PARIAN ENGLAND.
