Lot 115: Antique French D. Fèvre Double Gourd Wire-Caged Glass Seltzogene, Paris
An antique French double-chambered seltzogene manufactured by D. Fèvre in Paris, dating to the late 19th century. The piece is designed in the double-gourd style with two interconnected clear glass chambers encased within a protective dark-oxidised wire mesh cage. The dispenser head, neck collar, and base mount are made of cast heavy metal, possibly pewter or a lead-based alloy. The assembly includes a curved spout and a manual dispensing lever. The metal neck collar is embossed with VÉRITABLE SELTZOGENE D. FÈVRE and PARIS. The reverse of the collar bears an incised script signature reading D. Fèvre above the words MARQUE DÉPOSÉE, accompanied by a trademark logo. An internal glass siphon tube is present within the vessel.
