Buyer's Premium:

This pair of graduated earthenware jugs, likely ironstone, is characteristic of early to mid-19th-century Staffordshire pottery. The jugs feature a vibrant pink wash/glaze in the Sunderland lustre tradition. Both items are of a lobed bulbous form with rustic, branch-moulded handles and flared, scalloped rims. The bodies are decorated with black transfer-printed Chinoiserie landscape scenes including pagodas, bridges, and stylised figures. The necks and interior rims are further ornamented with black transfer-printed floral sprays and a geometric border. The bases are plain and lack maker marks, showing some glaze pooling and kiln stilt marks.
