Lot 268: Vintage Metal Lancet Mantel Clock Attributed to Seth Thomas

A vintage mechanical mantel clock of lancet or Gothic arched form, attributed to Seth Thomas. The case is constructed from painted metal with a black finish and decorative gilt-toned wear along the edges, supported by a stepped rectangular base. The circular cream-coloured dial features black Arabic numerals and spade-shaped hands, protected by a domed glass lens. The reverse features a circular metal cover for the movement, fitted with a single winding arbor, a hand-setting knob, and a regulator lever. This example closely resembles the Seth Thomas Capel model. The underside of the base bears an indistinct hand-incised mark, possibly reading v f or v t.
