Lot 281: A Collection of Mid-Century Modern Decorative Ceramic Tiles by Alan Wallwork and Ann Wynn Reeves

This collection of earthenware decorative tiles features designs by British studio potters Alan Wallwork and Ann Wynn Reeves. The group includes tiles with a waisted hourglass motif, decorated with impressed honeycomb or cellular textures and finished in variegated earth-toned glazes including moss green, dark brown, and ochre. One tile features a concentric bullseye pattern in shades of dark brown, mahogany, and cream. Another tile depicts a stylised sunburst or floral motif in black with bright yellow circular accents on a white ground. A further tile displays a stylised fruit, resembling an apple, in a turquoise glaze with dark outlines and leaf detailing. These tiles demonstrate the combination of impressed textures and thick, pooling glazes characteristic of mid-20th-century studio pottery. The reverse of one tile is stamped DESIGNED BY ANN WYNN REEVES and another is stamped DESIGNED BY ALAN WALLWORK.
