Lot 323: A Nineteenth Century English Clear Glass Pear Shaped Decanter and Cut Spire Stopper 64cm

A clear glass decanter featuring a pear shaped undecorated body with a short neck and a wide flattened rim. The vessel is hand blown and exhibits a polished out circular pontil mark to the centre of the base. The piece includes a tall hand cut spire stopper decorated with vertical fluted cutting towards the tip and diamond faceted cutting on the lower bulbous section. The stopper plug is ground to fit the ground interior of the decanter neck. A small blue mineral inclusion is trapped within the glass near the base.
