Lot 98: A Trio of Antique and Vintage Glass Bottles including a Bradford Bros Soda Syphon
This lot comprises three antique and vintage glass storage vessels of North East England origin, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The primary item is a glass soda syphon featuring an acid-etched design to the body for Bradford Bros, Mineral Waters, Newcastle-on-Tyne. The etching includes a ribbon banner, a circular trade mark depicting a stag head, and the text N. TEL. 405. The syphon retains a partially damaged paper label on the shoulder for Johnson and Co. Lemonade, Walker, with references to filtered water and guaranteed purity. It is fitted with a patinated lead-alloy or pewter head and an internal glass dip tube. The second item is a large apothecary or chemist storage bottle of pale aqua-tinted glass with rounded shoulders. It is fitted with a cork stopper featuring a wooden top with a paper label for Iron Pills (Blaud). The third item is a cylindrical storage jar in light green glass with a wide, ground-glass interior rim, designed for a glass stopper which is currently absent.
