Lot 166: An Art Nouveau Hinks cast brass table lamp with whiplash stem and presentation inscription dated 1916

An Art Nouveau brass table lamp manufactured by Joseph Hinks and Son. The lamp features a distinctive whiplash scrolling stem rising from a wide asymmetrical spreading base with foliate lobes. The base is stamped HINKS and bears an engraved presentation inscription that reads Presented to M. EASTON, Esq. by a few friends, on the occasion of his retirement from the Acting Presidency of the Newcastle and District Shorthand Writers Association, 29th March 1916. The lamp is constructed from cast brass with a polished finish and an aged patina. It is fitted with a brass bayonet bulb holder featuring a push-bar switch and has been rewired with brown plastic flex and a white UK three-pin plug. No shade gallery or shade is present.
