Lot 185: A Collection of UK Pre-decimal and World Coins

A collection of assorted coinage, predominantly featuring UK pre-decimal bronze, brass, cupro-nickel, and silver issues. The assembly consists of numerous stacks of bronze pennies and halfpennies spanning the reigns of Queen Victoria (veiled head), King Edward VII, King George V, King George VI, and Queen Elizabeth II. Obverse inscriptions include VICTORIA D G BRITT REGINA F D, GEORGIVS V DEI GRA BRITT OMN REX FID DEF IND IMP, and GEORGIVS VI D G BR OMN REX F D IND IMP, with reverses showing seated Britannia designs. The group includes several stacks of polygonal brass threepences and cupro-nickel sixpences, including an example dated 1958. Foreign numismatic content includes modern Greek drachmae featuring portraits of Alexander the Great, inscribed ΜΕΓΑΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΣ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΜΑΚΕΔΟΝΩΝ, and Homer, inscribed ΟΜΗΡΟΣ. Also present are German Imperial coins bearing the Reichsadler crest, a French coin marked REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE, and a UK silver coin dated 1885. The collection also contains a Victorian white metal medalet with a soldered suspension loop. All items are struck issues in assorted base and precious metals.
