A matched set of six early 20th-century clear glass apothecary or chemist shop bottles of cylindrical shop round form, each provided with a ground glass stopper. The bottles feature distinctive labels with white grounds, black block lettering, and decorative gilt and red borders. The labels are transcribed as follows: TINCT: SCILLÆ. (Tincture of Squill), INF. SENECAE. (CONC.) (Concentrated Infusion of Senega), HYDROGEN. PEROXID. (20 VOLS) (Hydrogen Peroxide, 20 Volumes), TINCT. QUIN. AMMON. (Ammoniated Tincture of Quinine), SARSÆ CO: CONC: (Concentrated Compound of Sarsaparilla) which features a secondary small paper label reading DECOCT: 1-7-, and LIQ: AMM: ACET: (Solution of Ammonium Acetate). The glass stoppers include various flattened and peg-shaped styles with ground joints. No maker’s marks are present.
