A ceramic advertising ashtray produced by Altenkunstadt in Bavaria for the Flensburg rum house O.C. Balle. The piece is formed as a stylised fish, featuring a deep orange glazed central well and three cigarette rests. The white body is printed in black with the slogans Der milde Balle – ZUM GROG and O.C. BALLE FLENSBURG. A small black dot represents the fish eye at the broader end. The base bears a green underglaze backstamp with the maker name Altenkunstadt arranged in an arch above a sailboat graphic and Bavaria below. O.C. Balle was a historic German distillery established in 1713.
