Lot 435: A Pair of George Jones and Sons Crescent Pottery Floral Candlesticks

A pair of George Jones and Sons Crescent Pottery earthenware candlesticks. Each candlestick has a tapered conical body with a bulbous neck and a ring-topped rim. The decoration consists of vertical black stripes on a cream-coloured ground, overlaid with transfer-printed and hand-tinted floral sprays depicting dahlia-style blooms in shades of purple and red with green leaves and buds. The underside of each base features the printed Crescent mark for George Jones and Sons with England below, accompanied by the hand-painted pattern number V710. One base has faint impressed numbers, possibly 140.
