Lot 462: Two vintage spirit bottles comprising a Bell's blended Scotch whisky decanter and an Irish Mist liqueur bottle
A pair of vintage spirit bottles from the mid-to-late 20th century. The first is a bell-shaped pottery decanter for Bell’s Scotch whisky finished in a two-tone brown and tan glaze with a gilded base. The front bears an adhesive paper label printed in black, red, and gold reading BELL’S REGD Blended Scotch Whisky SPECIALLY SELECTED DISTILLED BLENDED & BOTTLED IN SCOTLAND Arthur Bell & Sons Ltd. DISTILLERS PERTH SCOTLAND. The label also features the markings 75cl and 40% VOL alongside text stating PRODUCE OF SCOTLAND and ESTABLISHED 1825. A secondary label on the reverse provides a description of the blend by the distillers in Perth, Scotland. The second item is a dark brown glass bottle for Irish Mist liqueur. The main adhesive paper label is printed in gold and black on a grey ground reading 24 FL.OZS. 65° PROOF Irish Mist (Overseas) Ltd Irish Mist Ireland’s Legendary Liqueur. The bottle neck is decorated with a blue ribbon and a red plastic seal embossed with a crest and the Gaelic motto Mac Liam Abu. A gold-toned foil wrap on the neck also features this crest and motto. A black circular neck label reads IRISH MIST (OVERSEAS) LTD. TULLACH MHOR, IRELAND. A large historical text label on the reverse discusses the Flight of the Wild Geese and notes the product was manufactured and bottled by Irish Mist (Overseas) Ltd. Tullach Mhor Offaly, Ireland.
