Lot 464: A Collection of Twelve Chinese Cloisonne and Kashmiri Lacquered Decorative Eggs
A collection of twelve decorative eggs comprising one Chinese cloisonne enamel example and eleven Kashmiri hand-painted and lacquered examples. The cloisonne egg is constructed with a gilded metal base and fine wire cloisons defining decorative cells. It is decorated with stylised floral blossoms and scrolling ruyi motifs in a palette of lapis blue, turquoise, oxblood red, and emerald green against a polished gold-tone ground. The Kashmiri-style eggs are hand-painted and lacquered, including a large horizontally-oriented egg featuring birds among flowering branches on a cream ground. Other examples display dense millefiori and floral patterns in various colours including deep blue, tan, and black. One red egg features geometric white-line work, and a black egg displays a textured gold-tone spiral pattern.
