Lot 567: A British Thomson-Houston B.T.H. Type C Form A Crystal Wireless Receiver and Neutron Crystal Tin
A British Thomson-Houston (B.T.H.) Type C, Form A crystal wireless receiver and a separate accessory tin. The receiver is housed in a polished, dovetailed mahogany cabinet with a top metal carrying handle and a front-mounted latch. The lid opens to reveal a brown ebonite control panel featuring a Tuner dial with a 0-180 scale, a Condenser toggle switch, and a Change Crystal toggle. A twin detector unit is enclosed within a protective glass cylinder, featuring two cat’s whisker contact arms. The panel includes four terminal posts labelled Earth, Aerial, and Telephones. A black nameplate fixed to the interior panel is printed with the text WIRELESS CRYSTAL RECEIVER. MADE BY THE BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO LTD RUGBY. ENGLAND. TYPE C FORM A SB NO R 4 6 7 6. The interior of the lid contains a printed paper instruction label reading B.T.H. CRYSTAL WIRELESS RECEIVER. INSTRUCTIONS. The exterior top of the lid features an impressed circular mark with the letters B T H. The front of the cabinet bears a circular red and blue transfer-printed logo with stylized letters B B C. The lot is accompanied by a yellow-lithographed tin reading NEUTRON TRADE MARK WIRELESS CRYSTAL CONCERT TESTED AND GUARANTEED, which contains two mineral crystals embedded in wool.
