Lot 627: A Royal Albert Memory Lane Bone China Tea Service and a Saji Japanese Porcelain Coffee Service

A group of two porcelain tea and coffee services. The first is an English bone china part tea service in the Memory Lane pattern. The pieces feature fluted, lobed bodies decorated with transfer-printed sprays of blue forget-me-nots and green foliage against a white ground. The rims, scrolled handles, and feet are finished with gilt detailing. The base of the pieces bears a blue printed backstamp featuring a crown within a floral wreath, reading ROYAL ALBERT, BONE CHINA, and ENGLAND. Below this is the pattern name Memory Lane in blue cursive script and the copyright notice © ROYAL ALBERT LTD 1965. The service includes a teapot with lid, a cream jug, an open sugar bowl, teacups, saucers, a large oval undertray, and a smaller oval tray.

The second set is a Japanese porcelain part coffee service decorated with clusters of purple violets and green leaves. The forms are characterised by scalloped edges and ornate scrolled handles, with heavy gilt scrollwork and rims. The underside of the pieces bears a printed mark featuring a red and gold crown above a blue ribbon banner containing the name SAJI. Below the banner are the words MADE IN JAPAN and FANCY CHINA. A red-orange stamped number 6515 is also visible on the base. The service includes a teapot with lid, a lidded sugar bowl, a cream jug, teacups, and saucers.
