Lot 649: A Collection of Aviation and Military Commemorative Signed Covers and Ephemera

A collection of aviation and military history ephemera, primarily comprising signed commemorative flight covers and photographs, housed in a blue crocodile-effect binder with clear archival sleeves. The collection includes a vintage printed portrait of Lt. Colonel W. A. Bishop, V.C., D.S.O., M.C., D.F.C. from The People’s War Book, featuring a signature in black ink reading W A Bishop. A printed note at the base identifies the signature as a genuine autograph. The photograph bears the number 213 written in black marker across the forehead.

The collection contains several commemorative covers for the 30th Anniversary of First UK Jet Flight (1971), bearing signatures reading Frank Whittle and John Grierson. A commemorative cover for D-Day features an authentic postmark dated 6 June 1944 and is signed Richard Todd, Jim Wallwork, and Edward Gueritz.

Other signed items include a 60th Anniversary First Flight England to Australia (1979) cover signed Jean Batten; an Air Vice-Marshal Johnnie Johnson signed cover; multiple D.H. The collection further includes commemorative covers for the 40th Anniversary of Delivery of the Lincoln, 40th Anniversary of VJ-Day, and various Royal Air Force squadron anniversaries including No. 617 Dambusters. A Certificate of Authenticity from Chaucer Covers for a Seven Victoria Cross winners commemorative item is included.
