Lot 669: An Assortment of Militaria and Vintage Collectables to include Durham Light Infantry and World War I Service Badges
An assortment of militaria and vintage collectables. A brass cap badge for the Durham Light Infantry features a bugle horn with the characters DLI set within the strings, surmounted by a crown. A circular brass and enamel civilian service badge is inscribed with a blue border reading IRVINE’S SHIP BUILDING & DRY DOCKS CO. LTD, containing a blue scroll reading ON WAR SERVICE and the date 1915. A navy blue wool pillbox cap is decorated with two parallel white woven bands and a white metal numeral 4 to the front, complete with a black leather chin strap. The lot also includes a tapered brass shell casing with a dark, aged patina. A miniature brass miner’s safety lamp features internal glass pillars and a hanging hook. A vintage Corgi toy figure of Florence from The Magic Roundabout is housed in a clear plastic cylinder with a blue base bearing a printed label reading Magic Roundabout and CORGI. Further items include a small hand-painted figurine of a boy in a yellow shirt and red shorts holding a blue ball, a brass and steel folding smoker’s pipe tool, and a small brass screw-top cylinder.
