Lot 710: A Japanese Utsuwa-no-Yakata ceramic tea set

A Japanese ceramic tea set consisting of a teapot with a lid and a removable metal mesh strainer, together with five tea bowls. The teapot is finished in a sea-green glaze over a ribbed body. The accompanying five tea bowls feature varied coordinating glazes: one in deep forest green, one in reddish-brown with a pale green rim, and three in off-white with a pale green band at the rim and a fine internal crackle finish. A gold rectangular adhesive label fixed to the box and one bowl reads Japan · The Art of Tableware. / うつわの館 / ® / UTSUWA-NO-YAKATA. A small black and gold oval adhesive label on the side of one bowl reads UTSUWA / うつわの館 / ® / JAPAN. The rim of the removable metal mesh strainer is embossed P.A.T. · 65 m/m. The set is presented in its original brown cardboard storage box.
