Lot 723: A Pair of Late 19th early 20th Century Neoclassical Style Pierced Brass Vases 28cm Tall

A pair of decorative cast brass vases of tapering rectangular form. Each face features a central high-relief winged female mask, reminiscent of a classical Gorgon, set within an intricate field of pierced openwork scrolling acanthus leaves and foliate motifs. The square-section neck of each vase incorporates a radial sunburst motif to each side, topped with a flared rim and scrolled corner terminals. The vases are supported on integral stepped rectangular plinth bases. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible on the exterior or bases.
