Lot 95: Cyril Barnes Mixed Media High-Relief Architectural Plaque 71x41cm

A mixed media high-relief architectural composition on hardboard. The work depicts an abstracted fantasy cityscape with castle-like turrets and a central archway overlooking stylised sailing vessels on water, alongside a prominent nautilus-style spiral motif. The construction utilises heavily textured modelling paste layered with pigments in ochre, burnt sienna, and black, finished with a glossy resinous topcoat in sections. The piece is signed Cyril Barnes in white paint to the lower left centre. The work is mounted within a contemporary gilt wood frame with a textured finish. The verso consists of a hardboard panel with modern cord hanging hardware.
