Lot 505: A Twin-Handled Pedestal Centre Bowl with Red Mosaic Glass Body and Cast Metal Mounts

A large oval-form pedestal centre bowl featuring a translucent red glass body. The exterior of the bowl is decorated with a mosaic technique, composed of multi-coloured, iridescent, and dark red glass tesserae set within a dark grout to create a textured, cracked-ice effect. The bowl is fitted with elaborate cast metal mounts including a flared rim, twin handles, and a pedestal base. The rim features an incised scrolling pattern on the upper surface and a repeating pendant lambrequin motif that overlaps the glass body. Two scrolling, organic-form handles with a textured, reed-like surface are attached to the rim. The bowl is supported by a flared circular pedestal base with a repeating grid and bead pattern, terminating in four integral feet. The underside of the base is hollow and finished with a dark matte coating. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the object.
