Lot 541: A Hornby O Gauge Clockwork Train Set

A vintage O gauge clockwork model train set. The set comprises a green 0-4-0 locomotive and matching tender, alongside two grey and green open wagons. The locomotive is constructed from lithographed tinplate and features a gold and black transfer on the cab side reading MADE IN ENGLAND BY MECCANO LTD LIVERPOOL. It is finished with yellow lining and red-spoked wheels. The green tender bears the number 3133 in yellow lining to the sides. The two open wagons feature white L N E R lettering and the number 12530.

The set is housed in its original blue cardboard box, featuring a pictorial lid label titled HORNBY CLOCKWORK TRAIN depicting the Flying Scotsman locomotive No. 4472 in LNER green livery. The bottom of the label is printed Manufactured by MECCANO LTD LIVERPOOL. The interior contains cardboard dividers and a collection of curved tinplate three-rail track.

Accompanying the set is a yellow cardboard tag printed with TESTED BY AL and Made by MECCANO LTD LIVERPOOL. Also present is a small paper packet printed COMBINED WINDING KEY AND RAIL GAUGE.
