Lot 79: A Set of Six Silver Lindisfarne Pattern Teaspoons Retailer Reid and Sons. 94g

A set of six sterling silver teaspoons in the Lindisfarne pattern. The spoons feature handles decorated with cast Celtic knotwork and shield-shaped terminals with a circular cross design. This motif is repeated at the base of each handle. The set is contained within its original black textured presentation case, which has a blue velvet-lined base and a white satin lid interior. The interior lid is printed with a gold logo reading Reids. Included with the set is a printed pamphlet from the retailer Reid and Sons Limited, Blackett St. and Grainger St., Newcastle upon Tyne 1. The pamphlet provides a history of the Lindisfarne Gospels and the Lindisfarne decoration, alongside a black and white illustration titled Lindisfarne Priory. The reverse of each spoon handle bears a series of impressed marks.
