Lot 392: Antique Victorian Folding Standing Boot Jack

A 19th-century English standing boot jack of folding A-frame construction. The piece is crafted from turned and joined wood with a dark stained finish. The upper section features a horizontal ring-turned handle for stability during use. The vertical supports are detailed with ring turnings and connected by a central stretcher. The boot jack itself is a flat paddle-shaped board with a U-shaped yoke at the lower end, designed to grip the heel of a boot. This central board is hinged between the vertical legs, allowing the unit to fold flat for storage. The joinery is secured with visible circular wooden pegs throughout. No maker’s marks or stamps are visible on the object.
