Lot 433: A Large Antique Hand Hammered Tinned Copper Water Vessel with Iron Hardware 46x48cm

A large antique domestic vessel constructed from heavy-gauge copper. The body features an all-over martelé hammered texture and is decorated with groups of concentric incised lines around the upper rim and mid-section. It is fitted with two heavy iron brackets secured to the rim with copper rivets, each supporting a pair of wrought iron drop-ring handles. The interior of the vessel is tinned. The piece is supported on an applied circular iron foot rim. The interior wall bears a light surface scratch resembling an X character, and other faint surface marks that are not legible as names or makers’ stamps.
