Lot 464: A Collection of Lesney Matchbox Die-Cast Metal Toy Vehicles

A collection of vintage die-cast metal toy vehicles and trailers, including commercial, agricultural, and racing models. The group features several items with legible manufacturer and model markings on their bases. A heavy haulage tractor in orange finish features a black base impressed with Nº 15, ROTINOFF, SUPER ATLANTIC, and TRACTOR. A green racing car is impressed on the base with D. TYPE JAGUAR, MADE IN ENGLAND BY LESNEY, and Nº 41, with the number 41 also appearing on the bonnet. A peach-coloured car with a light green interior is impressed FORD, ZODIAC CONVERTIBLE, MADE IN ENGLAND BY LESNEY.

Other identified vehicles include a red delivery van with Brooke Bond Tea livery, a green van with Matchbox Removals Service lettering, and a red double-decker bus with Dewar’s White Label advertisements. The collection also contains a blue and grey tanker truck with Cleansing Service transfers, a green steam locomotive, a yellow cement mixer with a rotating drum, a black taxi, a green military jeep, a red fire engine with a manual ladder, and a variety of saloons in red, blue, and white. A large grey flatbed vehicle includes an integrated driver figure. The vehicles are constructed from die-cast metal and feature free-wheeling mechanisms.
