Lot 486: Victorian Style Cast Iron Umbrella and Stick Stand

A Victorian style cast iron umbrella or walking stick stand with an ornate architectural fretwork design. The frame features a central rectangular panel with intricate openwork comprising scrolling foliate patterns, a central circular roundel, a classical urn motif, and Greek key borders. This central section is flanked by two turned baluster-form supports. The top is finished with a rounded architectural arch surmounted by a central finial. A horizontal oval retaining rail is fixed across the frame for securing items. The stand sits on a heavy, stepped base with a gadrooned border and an integrated recessed drip tray. The piece is finished in a distressed off-white or light grey paint over the cast metal. Three small circular holes are present in the lower backplate for wall mounting. No maker’s marks or stamps are visible.
