Lot 618: A Collection of UK Pre-Decimal and Decimal Coins and International Commemoratives
A large collection of UK and international currency and commemorative pieces, primarily focused on British pre-decimal and decimal issues. The collection features various denominations including crowns, half-crowns, florins, English and Scottish shillings, sixpences, threepences, pennies, and half-pennies. Notable British items include a 1965 Winston Churchill commemorative crown, a 1952 penny, and a gold-coloured medallion featuring the Magnae Britanniae legend and the four floral emblems of the United Kingdom. Several sets are housed in protective plastic cases, such as a 1965 Elizabeth II specimen set and a display case containing various copper and cupro-nickel coins. A series of decimal two pence coins dating from 1971 to 2016 are individually stored in plastic capsules, many with adhesive labels marked UNC. International pieces are also present, including 100 Forint coins from the Magyar Nepkoztarsasag (Hungarian People’s Republic) commemorating the 1982 World Cup. The collection is housed in a silver-tone metal-framed storage case with a blue velvet-lined tray.
