Lot 720: A Vintage German J. Kaiser GmbH Gilded Metal Anniversary Clock with Globe Pendulum

A German torsion-style anniversary mantel clock of mechanical construction. The clock is housed under a removable clear glass dome and mounted upon a circular stepped pedestal base. The central brushed silver-toned dial is decorated with a sunburst motif and features hour markers composed of gilded metal spheres on stems. The hands are fashioned from gilded metal in a stylized form. The dial bears a printed cursive script signature reading Kaiser with an underline, and the lower edge is printed with the words MADE IN GERMANY in block capitals.

The movement is mounted to a backplate impressed with the uppercase text J. KAISER GMBH / VILLINGEN / GERMANY / NO (0) JEWELS / UNADJUSTED. Below the dial assembly is a rotating torsion pendulum in the form of a metal globe. This pendulum depicts a world map with relief-moulded continents finished in a gold tone against a silver-toned sea. Legible geographic labels on the globe include NORTH PACIFIC OCEAN, NORTH AMERICA, U.S.A., CANADA, VENEZUELA, ATLANTIC OCEAN, AFRICA, SAHARA SUDAN, CAIRO EGYPT, KHARTOUM, NIGERIA, CONGO, and INDIAN OCEAN. The clock is supported by a four-strut frame on a polished gold-toned base.
