Lot 731: A Collection of Sterling Silver and Costume Jewellery, including Venetian Glass and a Rotary Wristwatch
A mixed collection featuring sterling silver, vintage costume jewellery, and a timepiece. The lot includes a graduated Venetian-style glass bead necklace with blue and green foil-lined "aventurine" decoration on a brown base.
The collection features several hallmarked and marked silver pieces. A large oval brooch with a central landscape agate is stamped on the reverse with "STERLING 925" and three British hallmarks. An Art Nouveau style rose brooch bears a hallmark strip on the stem with a maker’s mark, a lion passant, an anchor for Birmingham, and the date letter "S". A shield-shaped enamel badge for the "CIVIL NURSING RESERVE" is stamped on the reverse "STERLING SILVER" alongside a partially obscured maker’s name ending in "M". Two silver rings set with translucent yellow cabochons are present, one stamped "925" to the interior shank. A circular pendant with a relief lion’s head is stamped "SILVER" on the reverse.
Additional items include an openwork bar brooch set with a green cabochon, a marcasite butterfly brooch with a central purple faceted stone, and a lizard-form brooch. A contemporary blown glass ring with blue and gold swirls is housed in a yellow and red textured box.
The lot is completed by a vintage Rotary wristwatch. The champagne-coloured dial features gold-tone baton hour markers and is printed with the "ROTARY" winged logo and "SWISS MADE". The square case features a textured rope-twist border and is fitted to a black leather strap.
