Lot 749: Moorland Staffordshire Chelsea Works Burslem Conical Cup and Saucer Set

A Moorland Staffordshire glazed earthenware cup and saucer set. The conical cup is designed with a square foot and a bold curved handle, paired with a matching circular saucer. The exterior of the cup is hand-decorated with a pastoral landscape featuring white cottages with orange roofs, stylized trees, and birds against a cream ground. The interior rim of the cup and the border of the saucer are finished with concentric bands of blue, orange, and yellow.

The base of both pieces features a printed black backstamp. The mark on the underside of the saucer and inside the base of the cup consists of decorative scrolls and dots surrounding the text: Moorland. / STAFFORDSHIRE / CHELSEA / WORKS / BURSLEM / ENGLAND.
