Lot 1: A 9ct Gold and Enamel Masonic Past Master's Jewel for Tyne Dock Lodge MMM by Spencer and Co.
A 9ct gold and enamel Masonic Past Master’s jewel presented to Worshipful Brother Alfred Todd by the Tyne Dock Mark Master Mason Lodge. Produced by Spencer and Co. of London, the jewel commemorates service as Worshipful Master during the 1939-40 period. The piece comprises a top bar inscribed Tyne Dock Lodge MMM in blue enamel, a maroon and light blue striped ribbon with an applied central badge featuring a hand-painted scene of a steamship at Tyne Dock over a fouled anchor, and a middle bar dated W.M. 1939-40. The pendant section consists of a foliate-engraved square from which a white enamel keystone is suspended, decorated with traditional circular lettering. The reverse of the square is engraved: Presented to W. Bro. Alfred Todd. W.M. 1939-40. As a mark of appreciation and esteem by the P.M.S, Officers, and Brethren of the Tyne Dock Mark Lodge. The reverse of the jewel is stamped Spencer London and marked for 9ct gold. The item is housed in its original blue cloth-covered fitted presentation case, the interior lid of which is gold-stamped with a royal warrant for King George VI and the address for Spencer and Co. Masonic Manufacturers, London.
