Lot 116: Charles Pelletier, Venice Lagoon Nocturne, Oil on Board

A Charles Pelletier oil on board painting titled Venice Lagoon Nocturne. The composition depicts a coastal landscape at night under a dark, heavy sky, punctuated by a sharp beam of white light hitting the water. The shoreline features textured dabs of red and yellow paint applied with heavy impasto. The work is signed CH. Pelletier in green paint to the lower left corner. The reverse of the board features a handwritten inscription in black ink reading VENICE LAGOON NOCTURNE and CHARLES PELLETIER. The wooden frame rails are marked with two identical black ink stamps consisting of a logo with two overlapping squares followed by the text MADE IN ITALY. The painting is presented in a wide silver-toned wooden frame with a decorative distressed crackle finish.
