Victor Noble Rainbird (1887-1936). An original watercolour on paper depicting an elevated, atmospheric view of Durham city with the cathedral silhouette dominant on the horizon. The work is executed in an impressionistic style with a muted palette of blue-grey, pale ochre, and misty greens to suggest depth and light. Signed in the lower left in black pigment VICTOR. NOBLE RAINBIRD and titled in the lower right DURHAM. The artwork is presented in a multi-layered wash-lined mount within a contemporary gilt-wood frame.
