Lot 163: GWG, A Pair of Africanist Profile Wall Plaques, Hollow-Cast Metal

A pair of mid-20th century hollow-cast metal wall relief plaques by GWG. The set comprises a male and female head depicted in profile, facing each other. The male figure is rendered with textured hair, while the female figure is shown wearing a headscarf tied at the nape. Both pieces are finished with a two-tone patina in dark brown and copper tones. Each plaque is incised with the maker mark GWG to the lower edge of the neck. The reverse of each casting is hollow, exhibiting a rough surface with remnants of casting material and a partial paper label to the female figure.
