Lot 177: Two Chinese Cloisonne Enamel Lidded Vessels
Two Chinese cloisonne enamel lidded vessels. The first is a vessel of globular form, possibly intended for use as an ashtray or incense burner, fitted with twin horizontal handles terminating in spherical brass finials. The exterior is decorated with pink and white floral blossoms set against a light blue ruyi cloud-scroll ground, with a green fish-scale pattern to the shoulder. The flat cover is recessed to accommodate the handles and is decorated with a central flower. The second is a small circular lidded box decorated with a central white lotus blossom and polychrome scrolling foliate vines against a dark ground. Both pieces are finished to the interior and base with turquoise-blue enamel.
