Lot 201: A Large Polychrome Glazed Ceramic Figure of a Seated Buddha 40x36cm

A polychrome glazed ceramic figure of a seated Buddha. The figure is depicted in the dhyana mudra meditative gesture with hands resting in the lap and thumbs touching, seated in the full lotus position. The Buddha features traditional iconographic elements including elongated earlobes, a serene downcast expression, and snail-curl hair rendered in a dark grey glaze, topped with a gilt circular ushnisha ornament. The robes are finished in a mustard-yellow glaze with a contrasting green border at the neckline, while the skin is rendered in a smooth cream-coloured glaze. The underside of the flat base is glazed in mustard-yellow and bears several dark scuffs and small circular marks, though no legible maker’s marks or signatures are present.
