Lot 232: A Social History Archive and Photograph Album of La Dolce Vita Nightclub Newcastle upon Tyne
A faux-leather bound scrapbook album containing a vintage photograph and ephemera archive documenting the La Dolce Vita nightclub in Newcastle upon Tyne. The collection focuses on the club owners, David, Norman, and Marcus, and includes a black and white photograph signed and inscribed to them by Dickie Henderson. Contents include numerous black and white and colour photographs of the venue interior and exterior, showgirls, management, and visiting entertainers such as Jimmy Caesar and Alberta Lane. Notable images depict a Sunbeam Alpine sports car giveaway to a Mr R. Young and production stills featuring professional television cameras. Ephemera includes a distressed original La Dolce Vita membership card, a business card for City Gift Supplies (Prop. P. Barak), and newspaper clippings concerning local singer Johnny Heenan and his association with figures such as Muhammad Ali.
