Lot 258: A Fairy Soap advertising wall mirror

An advertising wall mirror for Fairy Soap housed in a stained wooden frame with a stepped and reeded profile. The rectangular mirror plate features polychrome screen-printed graphics, including a central illustration of a fairy in a blue dress with yellow and green wings set against a landscape background. The figure is depicted holding a wand and a box of Fairy Soap. The mirror is printed with various text elements, including a Fairy Soap banner flanked by butterflies, a central information panel regarding the product’s sales in the Northern Counties, and the manufacturer name Thomas Hedley and Co. Ltd., Newcastle-on-Tyne. The base of the plate features the slogan Can Help You in large serif lettering. A small inscription at the lower margin identifies the piece as a special limited edition mirror based on an original advertisement from 1901.
