Lot 503: An assortment of ceramic items including commemorative ware, studio pottery, and decorative figurines
A collection of varied ceramic objects comprising commemorative, studio, and decorative pieces. A glazed earthenware figurine depicts a pixie seated on a green mound with a green frog at the base, the front incised with the words LUCKY PIXIE. The underside bears a hand-painted mark in black reading Govancroft SCOTLAND. A tapered cylindrical earthenware beaker commemorates Queen Victoria, featuring a blue transfer-printed portrait under a banner reading 1837 DIAMOND JUBILEE 1897 and text below reading VICTORIA, QUEEN OF GREAT BRITAIN AND IRELAND AND EMPRESS OF INDIA. A white earthenware beaker is hand-painted with a stylized sailing vessel with colourful sails and a red-dotted rim; the base carries a black printed mark reading Hand-Made ENAMEL Athens-Greece. A modernist figurine in white glazed ceramic is shaped as a stylized female form with a small aperture at the crown, decorated with black line-art patterns to the face and dress. A circular stoneware wall clock by Carron Pottery features concentric glazes in shades of green, cream, and brown with recessed hour markers; the reverse is printed with a boat motif and the words CARRON SCOTLAND. It is fitted with a black plastic quartz movement.
