Lot 50C: A Victorian sterling silver and mother-of-pearl folding fruit knife by Villiers & Jackson
A Victorian single-blade folding fruit knife by Villiers & Jackson, Sheffield, dated 1896. The blade is constructed from sterling silver and is struck with four marks on the obverse: a rectangular punch with the initials V&J, a crown, a lion passant, and a capital letter D in a clipped rectangular shield. The reverse side of the blade features a hand-engraved cursive presentation inscription reading Frank to Lena 1932. The handle scales are crafted from iridescent mother-of-pearl secured with three pins and featuring a vacant, recessed silver shield cartouche.
