Lot 526: Large wooden biplane sit on toy with hand-cranked clicking mechanism
A large-scale wooden biplane toy constructed from a light-coloured hardwood with a clear varnished finish. The aircraft features staggered wings connected by turned wooden struts with cross-braced twine rigging. A manual hand-cranked ratchet and pawl mechanism is mounted on the starboard side of the fuselage, designed to create a clicking sound when turned. The two-blade wooden propeller is mounted to the nose on a central axle. Two dark-stained wooden cylinders representing engine components are positioned on the upper fuselage forward of the wings. The toy includes a small wooden seat with a backrest at the rear. It is mounted on two large black rubber-treaded front wheels and a single metal swivel caster at the rear for directional steering. No maker marks, signatures, or labels were found on the piece.
