Lot 525: K. Short, Mawgan Seascape, Oil on Board

An impressionistic oil on board painting depicting a coastal seascape with waves breaking on a sandy shore under a heavy, light-dappled sky. The composition utilizes expressive brushwork with impasto texture applied to the white surf and the reflective areas of the beach. The lower right corner bears a painted black inscription reading K. SHORT MAWGAN (photo 3). The work is supported by a textured hardboard panel. Housed in a contemporary deep-coved wooden frame with a natural finish. The verso is secured with metal pins and shows aged brown adhesive tape (photo 5).
