Lot 524: K. Short, landscape oil or acrylic on board, dated 1972

A 20th-century landscape painting by K. Short, executed in oil or acrylic on hardboard. The composition depicts a serene river or lake scene at twilight, rendered in a warm palette of ochre and deep browns to suggest a misty sunset glow. The water’s surface reflects the light of the sky, framed by the calligraphic silhouettes of overhanging tree branches in the foreground and dark hills in the distance. The work is signed and dated in the lower right corner in white paint K. SHORT. OCT. ’72. The piece is housed in its original dark-stained wooden moulding frame. The reverse reveals a textured hardboard support with remnants of older framing materials.
