Lot 536: A Trio comprising two framed hand-coloured steel engravings by T. Allom and E. Finden, and a wall-mounted brass gong

A collection of three items comprising two antique framed topographical steel engravings and a wall-mounted brass gong. The first engraving is titled STOCKTON ON TEES. in the lower margin. It shows a maritime harbour scene with masted sailing ships. Printed text in the lower left margin reads T. Allom and the lower right margin reads W. Floyd. The second engraving is titled HARTLEPOOL. and depicts a coastal scene with local figures. The text in the lower left reads Painted by T. Creswick from a sketch by G. Balmer. and the lower right reads Engraved by E. Finden. Both prints are hand-coloured and exhibit fine line work and clear impressions with visible plate marks. They are housed in period frames with internal slips. The wall-mounted gong consists of a circular brass plate suspended by cords from a wrought-iron bracket. The bracket features decorative scrollwork and a copper-toned floral boss, all mounted on a rectangular oak backboard. The piece includes an integrated striker with a padded head and iron shaft.
